Disparity in
wages
Sir,
With the release
of latest nine installments of Cola (for the year
2000) the total Cola accured to the PSU employees
is 21. 78 percent against 43 percent D.A being
paid to the State Government employees. The State
Government Employees having basic pay of Rs.
10,000/- is being paid Rs. 4300/- D.A per month,
whereas the corporation employees having basic
pay from Rs. 8801 to Rs. 10,000/- is being paid
Rs. 1938/- per month. There is a difference of
Rs. 2362/- per month that mean the PSU employees
are being paid less than 50 percent of D.A as
compared to State Government Employees, apart
from the fact that there is no pension, family
pension, leave encashment, Unrevised T.A rules to
the PSU employees. This shows how much disparity
exist between these employees, when the market
rates and type of work is the same for both the
classes. The Government has kept with -held Cola
for the year 1998 and 1999. This is great
injustice with the PSU workers. In view of the
above facts, the Government is requested to
release the due installments of Cola for the year
1998 and 1999, so that the disparity in the
payment of wages does not exist and the rule of
law and rule of equity is maintained, as the less
wages to a particular section hit their
conscience, when there are equal rights before
the law.
Yours etc...
