Quality service at shrine

Sir,

During the Navratras this month I had gone for darshans of Mata Vaishno Devi. I have seen all the arrangements made by the Shrine Board for the pilgrims. I was so impressed that I couldn't believe that such high quality services was provided by the Management of Shrine Board in our State. We are really proud of it. The quality of services is No.1 in the north India. The whole route of 14 kms is very neat and clean. Electric supply is for 24 hours without any interruptions. All eatables are provided to the pilgrims on fixed rates and their quality is also very good. While in our State many public sector undertakings are running in huge losses and their quality of service is also very poor. Such undertakings should learn a lesson from the Management of Shrine Board and should sent their officers for refresher courses to the Shrine Board so that after getting training from the Shrine Board authorities, they can improve the working of their department. This is mostly applicable to Jammu Municipality and State Road Transport Corporation, which needs a lot of improvement in their function.

Define terrorism

Sir,

Only after Sept. 11 attacks on WTC and Pentagon, UN official are found busy, everyday and night, to give the most satisfactory definition of the word 'terrorism'. It shows that whatever is going on in J&K is something different from terrorism. So they have no concern with it. But J&K has been battling with that something different for more than a decade. So I request these officials, eager to define the word, that they must have a glance at J&K where the people are suffering from that or something different" in different ways. An infant has lost his fathers, a widow, grandmother has lost her son, an uncle has lost his niece due to that "something different'' and there are so many examples like these. May be, these officials will get some clues and ideas to define this word "Terrorism".

Denigrating patriotic forces

Sir,

It has reference to Panun Kashmir's splinter group leader Dr. Ajay Chrangoo's statement dated 4.12.01 regarding seminar on the Topic 'Jammu and Kashmir-the way ahead' organised by the 16 Corp of Northern Command in collaboration with Pol. Science Department of JU. Terming the seminar as a mischievous political manoeuvre and demanding a high level probe, besides seeking stern action against Pol. science HOD, is highly condemnable in a civil society. It's anti democratic and sounds fascist.

Before going public, Mr. Chrangoo should have convinced himself that those who attended the said seminar were no less intelligent, patriotic and politically aware than him. He has cast aspersions by stating that only those academicians and intellectuals were invited to the seminar who feel that Indian Sovereignty can be debated or negotiated.

He has a point when he says that no representative from PRO -Trifurcation Movement was invited in the seminar. But he cannot claim that Panun Kashmir was not given the opportunity in the seminar. In fact, PK presentation regarding the genesis of Islamist Terrorism, the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, their genocide, their demand of separate Homeland in Kashmir was so brilliant that even for a moment the opponents of this theory were spell bound.

I humbly request Dr. Chrangoo not to concentrate on denegrating our patriotic 16-Corp of Northern command. I dare this self-styled intellectual supremo of hapless Kashmiri Pandits, as to why shouldn't Army organise such seminars that enable civilians to understand their point of view?

Lastly Dr. Chrangoo has appealed the J&K Governor to take cognizance of suspicious (anti national) role played by the JU Pol Science Deptt. I remind this gentleman that it was Girish Chander Saxena himself who inaugurated the seminar.
