War against terrorism

Sir,

The Al-Qaeda Group, Osama bin-Laden, Mohd Omar- are all "At Daggers drawn" with the humanity -every one knows the fact especially the nations suffering from greatest ever malady "The terrorism" But what is even catastrophic to notice is the hold of this vice on Islam. Terrorists have used Islam just like a sheet cover. They have used Muslims for their own vested benefits. By connoting a wrong meaning of Jehad they have portrayed such an image where the true image of a real Muslim has been over-shadowed. Jehad in true sense means fighting for a cause but these so called Muslims are just demons who are fighting against humanity to prove themselves to the world. Their concern is not for the masses but for their individual interests.

Today as the world stands on the brink of another catastrophic war, I feel it a necessity to make my fellow brethren aware that these anti-social elements are a danger for the existence of humanity. Science has made war more dangerous with the manufacture of nuclears weapons. We realise that if we don't dissuade the head-strongs from declaring hostilities, annihilation of humanity is imminent.

I would like to call upon the whole Muslim community, nay world to join forces and act as torch bearers for the world by showing the true face of their religion and not the distorted image as portrayed by these so-called Statesmen.

A model indeed!

Sir,

It has reference to the news "Sharda Peeth Celebrates Raising Day" published in your esteemed Daily on November 4, 2001.

The school having its own significance, I would like to share some more information about the school.

Sharda Peeth Rishi Model School, Battal Ballian Udhampur is creation of Shri Bhat Momorial Trust, Udhampur which is committed to the socio-cultural and educational welfare of the displaced community in particular and society in general. The school is unique in its nature as unlike other public educational institutions that have turned into commercial units, the school is mostly run on donations. The fact that since the inception of the school, more than Rs. 15 lakhs have been spent on salary, infrastructure and constructions of the school building, only Rs. 3 lakhs have been realised from school fees gives an insight in this regard.

The school which started in May 1995 in a tent and a wooden hut with 26 students intake, presently has a big building of 13 rooms and provides education to more than 165 students of hapless displaced children of Battal Ballian camp and neighbouring villages. In quality of education, school can be compared to any reputed institution of the State.

Besides, many individuals, KOA (USA), KP Sabha Kolkata and Reliance Parivar Mumbai associated with the trust in this noble endeavour. In recognition of this noble mission, MLA Udhampur Lala Shiv Charan released Rs. 50,000/- from his constituency Development fund and announced payment of Rs. one lakh more for the school.

To conclude, there in no dearth of philanthropists who want to contribute to social causes, but the only thing is that you have to reach to them and demonstrate transparency and sincerity. It is hoped that all well meaning individuals and institutions will encourage such noble institutions and initiatives by their logical and material support.

Work out problems

Sir,

This refers to election of members for Camp Development Committees held by the Government of J&K in the month of October dated 28.10.2001 under the supervision of Relief Organisation. It is indeed a welcome gesture. The elections were held just in a cordial atmosphere and the camp dwellers participated in them with great jubilation and enthusiasm.

As the name itself suggests that the future activities of these elected members will remain concerned with the developmental works of the camps and they have to act as rapport builders between the people and the Government.

These camps in reality are symbols of migration and remind the people how an innocent community was made to flee their homes and hearths in the wake of growing pan-Islamic fundmentalism in the Valley. They in reality are the suffering lot who are contented to be there because they cannot manage to construct a better dwelling any where. Their day and night start and end in the same room and this type of monotony has adversely affected their mental make up. They have become destitutes in their own free country.

Therefore, the Government with the present venture should acquaint itself with the myriad problems of these clustered families.

The Government should concern itself with the infrastructural facilities viz. health, education, drinking water, sanitation etc. The construction of two room sets as already declared by the CM J&K in his recent visit to camps should be taken on top priority in Muthi-2.
