Peace talks
essential
Sir,
We know there are
rats in the house, can we set the entire house on
fire to drive them out? That is no wisdom. The
prudence demands that we will have to hear all,
even the mice, convince and satisfy them so that
no more dust remains under the carpet. We should
not give any chance for the deadlock in the
proposed offer for the talks with all the
sections of people of the state for some obvious
reasons. Declining permission of visit of
Hurriyat to Pak and Mr Geelani's feelings
treating Kashmir as a religious issue have proved
a bulwark in the peace process aggrevating the
complexities with mixed opinion on the peace
mission. The knots will always crop up because
Central Government has no concrete policy on
Kashmir. None-the-less this should not deter our
efforts as fog cannot be dispelled by a fan even
if placed on high velocity. Such anti-Indian
tirade will echo for all the time till some final
and conclusive settlement on Kashmir issue is
sorted out.
In the present
political scenario we need to deal with the
problem in a positive and pragmatic manner as
long as they declare it a peace mission to search
for peace. It is a two way traffic where
intransigence and inflexibility is to be eschewed
to make the road clear for purposeful and
meaningful dialogue on this long outstanding
imbroglio.
People living in
glass houses, inside and outside the country
exploiting the innocence, hoodwinking the
commonmen cannot understand the gravity and
rigours of pain that have wrecked to the state of
J&K placing them in an unimaginable distress
and uncertainity.
Talks are very
essential. These have two phases, Internal and
external with 3 tier wings. Internally we should
prepare ourselves after shifting all the
possibilities with the existing parties in
Kashmir. Next step is dialogue with Pakistan.
Third and final step is between the relevant
representatives of the J&K State, India and
Pakistan but under the canopy of 3rd party.
Dialogue is
virtually no mediation or commitment. it is an
attempt to search and understand each other
provided it is marked with sincerity otherwise it
is a criminal joke.
Keeping in view
the plight of the people we have to somehow plug
bickering, intransigence or in the alternative to
chalkout an agenda enunciating the norms and
lines to be hammered out on the anvil for the
sake of discussions. That will itself be an
answer question for all interested and aggrieved
serving as an anchor for the problem.
In Persian there
is a proverb which conveys dispute to be settled
on soil where from it springs. Mr K C Pant is
requested to interact with all the sections of
people in the summer capital under the shade of
Chinars, read the pulse of the people to gain the
clear vision and insight of the problem
evaluating the same without allowing it to simmer
under current resentment.
Yours etc...
