JAMMU, May 13: In the first major bloodiest battle in Akhnoor, security forces lost a Major and three Special Operations Group (SOG) jawans while killing three foreign mercenaries at village Sungal Sama, about 14 kms from the town during a day long operation today, which was going on till mid-night. A minor girl was shot dead by the militants after holding her hostage for three hours.............more

JAMMU, May 13: Mr Justice K G Balakrishnan of Supreme Court of India has said that judiciary is playing an important role in Human Rights violation cases, environment problems, property rights and other social problems in today’s life Inaugurating the newly constructed building of Dogra Law College at Bari Brahmana about 16 kms from here today, the Supreme court judge said that nature of problems has increased manifold and the judiciary is dealing with such problems which are coming to its notice. Stressing the need to raise standard of legal education, Justice Balakrishnan opined that for this purpose there is need to have good institutions and talented staff, educationists and the infrastructure. The basic purpose of the education is to provide better opportunities to the students............more
