Prime Minister, Mr Atal Behari VajpayeeNEW DELHI, May 5: The Prime Minister, Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee, has managed-indeed, in sheer secrecy-to woo the Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, although the process in this regard took more than six weeks. Syed Ahmed Bukhari, after his ‘coronation’ as the Shahi Imam, had played a key role while convincing several Kashmiri opposition leaders, particularly the ones belonging to the All-Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC), that ‘peace’ talks with the Government of India will eventually lead to security and stability and safety of the average Kashmiri.......................more

RAJOURI, May 5: The Border Security Force (BSF) gunned down a Jaish-e-Mohammed militant in Koteranka area of Kandi this morning while police arrested a Sarpanch for attacking constables in Manjakot police station and trying to rescue his detained supporters. BSF sources said a patrol party of security forces noticed movement of two militants in Koteranka area of Kandi and asked them to surrender. But, the militants fled towards an adjoining forest area and took cover behind a cluster of trees................more
