Bollywood-underworld nexus

Sir,

The love for both cricket and cinema in India is great. But it is unfortunate to know that both the cricket and cinema are the toys in the hands of underworld.

Last year, we heard a lot about the match fixing scandal that rocked the cricketing world. Several players were fined and few got life ban too. Still some enquiries are on and many more is yet to come. And now is the turn of cinema. Recent raids on the premises of several actors, producers, financiers etc. unfold the secret relations between Bollywood and underworld. Several Persons are receiving threats from underworld The murder of Gulshan Kumar, and the attack on Rakesh Roshan are all episodes of this drama.

These things have shocked us and destroyed the faith of the common people. Now every match in which India loses seems to be fixed. The Indian cricketers and Bollywood actors. Which were once considered as the heroes of the nation are now turning out to be the villains of India.

I request the central Govt. to take some strict action against these anti-national elements because if the Government remains a mute spectator then the day is not far away when some underworld don would turn out to be the Prime Minister of India.

Corruption in

Public places

Sir,

In our Assembly (DE March 1, 2001) a BJP MLA Mr. Ashok Khajuria alleged that bunglings worth several lakhs were committed by an Asstt. Director and a store keeper of Food and Supplies Deptt. in Marwah and Dachhan area of Doda but instead of being punished he was rewarded with promotion as he is said to have given a luxurious car costing Rs. 12 (twelve) lakhs as a gift to a Minister's son. This is only an example but there are many such cases in which the concerned besides taking undue promotion also got revision of their pay scales as per their choice leaving others such as teachers, masters etc. in Education Deptt. high a dry for the obvious reasons. This does not mean, that all are corrupt but majority being fully corrupt, one odd honest person is like a fish out of water and is compelled to swim with the tide or face wrath of his superious in terms of inhospitable and unremunerative posting. There is another category which is more powerful then even the Ministers, Politicians and bureaucrats who happens to be their off-spring and law unto themselves. Now it is clear that root cause of corruption in our country is political corruption with in turn led to business and bureaucratic corruption as the bureaucracy works closely with executive and interfaces with the public including the businessmen. Therefore, we have a vicious cycle of corruption consisting of Neta-Babu-Lala-Dada syndrome but the high ranking officials and Ministers always get away and the junior staff become the scapegoats in most of the cases. This all also shows that corrupt governance neither lets its citizens live nor die with dignity.
