Bhim accuses Kashmiri leaders of blackmailing Centre Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 17: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (NPP) chief Prof Bhim Singh today accused the Kashmiri leaders for blackmailing the Indian Government. Talking to media persons here he took serious exception of former Chief Minister and Awami National Conference (ANC) chiefs Mr G M Shahs reported statement in which he said that Kashmir is not an integral part of India. Ridiculing Mr Shahs statement he termed it a "Kashmiri tigdambazi" (trickery). Shah has taken oath of Indias sovereignty and integrity when he was thrusted as Chief Minister of the State by Mrs Indira Gandhi in 1984 and how is he today challenging the integrity. Prof Bhim Singh said every Kashmiri leader blackmailed New Delhi and now Shah is also trying to do that. However, he did not absolve New Delhi for this blackmail. He alleged till Centre was ready to provide funds for the convention being organised by Mr Shah all was well and when they stopped it, he started making noise. Lambasting out at Mr Shah for his proposed conference on Kashmir he said if he was really sincere in his move he should have worked for a consensus in the three regions of the State instead of inviting leaders from PoK for talks. He said how Amanullah Khan can visit here against whom 15 cases are pending in India. Lashing out at Hurriyat leadership he said half of them is the creation of IB and one third of CIA. He blamed its leadership of selling graveyards of innocent Kashmiris. He said the genuine Kashmiris are suffering under the authoritarian rule and while people are dying here the Chief Minister goes on Haj pilgrimage. He said peace will only return to trouble torn Jammu and Kashmir if the entire state including the PoK is reorganised and fair and free elections are held and power is given to the real representatives of the masses. He also blamed the State Government for trying to divide Jammu into three portions on the name of regional autonomy through trifurcation which his Party will strongly resist. He said before Farooq Abdullah succeeds in his move we have to defeat his designs. He said his Party is going to hold a convention at Jammu on March 23 in connection with its 18th anniversary. The day will also be celebrated as National Integration Day. On this day the election of Party president will also be held, he added. Prof Singh said that a wrong impression has been generated throughout the world that J&K people do not support accession and all the delegates who will participate in the convention will be with Tricolours in their hands supporting national integrity. Commenting on tehelka.com he said this is a part of war of succession among the NDA partners to side line the former Defence Minister George Fernandes who was going close to Prime Minister. He however, did not visualize any immediate threat to NDA Government at Centre saying it will continue till Vajpayee is there. He said tehelka has exposed the whole political system of the country. Though nobody knows who played specific role in tehelka he however said you can not rule out any thing. |
