In pursuits of peace

Sir,

Atal Jee definitely contributes something precious for the cessation of hostilities and is working for establishment of peaceful relations with the neighbours. A sincere disciple of realism, searching for everlasting peace in the entire South Asia and in particular for the disturbed State of J&K which has consumed inestimable budding genius reducing the State in abject misery. He definitely looks forward for the future and is anxious to retrieve the lost glory, confidence and peace. Alas! You have thrown all your love for Kashmir abundantly and extravagantly but there is no return to your love as majority of people seek fly in the ointment of your ambitious plan of ceasefire.

All the peaceful exercise undertaken by you have proved nothing short of ploughing the sand. Your efforts candidly speak for your belief in truth, crystal clear to look but not simple and easy to conquer the obscure disease.

The problem was not so tedious to be solved but for malicious designs of interested persons who like to keep the lamp of discord burning. To deliver and achieve the honest object. Atal Jee will have to start de-weeding around to accomplish his cherished desire. This is not possible as the road is very rough to tread upon.

To retrieve the peace, blood and iron policy will not do and if anybody suggests he misleads. Your efforts experiments to take care of human lives through ceasefire will hardly cure the disease as care is not the cure.

Your ambitious proposition of ceasefire has evoked a lot of speculation which are rife in the market. Majority of the people hold that Atal Jee dwindles away the time till he accomplishes his bout. Some say it is an art to throw the anti-national elements in the vortex of fragmentation and confrontation. Some believe it as an art to befuddle and befool the people.

Above all this, all and one consider your person as an apostle of peace and patience who alone can solve this vexed problem capable to bail out the country from the abyss of disorder.

Atal Jee, like fascinating gallant soldier take some bold decision, meet the people of different shades in the summer capital of the State. listen and hear them, assess the situation on the spot. This is the cardinal principle of democracy. This way you will create history. People can forget you but history will definitely remember you for your bold adventure.

For every ailment, there is a remedy or there is none. If there be one, let us try and find it out. Talk to the people, allow Hurriyat to visit Pakistan. Where we have been bold enough allowing a person like Ab.Gani Lone to visit Pakistan with other colleagues there it will make no difference if remaining persons of Hurriyat also visit there. We are all in pursuit of peace, no harm.

Before we may pay high price to purchase peace let us try this hypothesis and watch results.

Clarification

Sir,

The news item that has appeared in your esteemed Daily under the title, "College students boycott classes", at page 5 column 8 dated 14, March, 2001 has come as shock not only to conscientious teachers of Govt. Degree College, Kathua but also to the students, a majority of whom come from rural areas of this district.

The college has functioned normally during the whole of the academic session which is nearing completion and the class work has been going on regularly and around 90 percent of the course have been covered in almost all the classes.

The news item is baseless and unfounded and amounts to tarnishing the image not only of the innocent, devoted, hardworking and regular students of the college but also of the conscientious teachers who have been taking their classes regularly and have nearly covered their course.

The students as well as the teachers of this institutions have taken strong exception to this news item and request you to instruct your correspondent not to indulge in misleading journalism to the detriment of this prestigious institution which has produced university toppers and position holders during the past years.

Marriage time

Sir,

Before the migration of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley, the timings of lagan (Marriage time) was given top most priority. The Groom would reach the marriage venue howsoever early it would have been as it was deemed to be in-auspicious to perform the lagan after the lagan time elapsed. But after the migration to serious attention is given to the lagan timings and it is being performed even after such timings which is not only in-auspicious but have a psychological thrust in the later part of married life to the couple.

Recently, I witnessed a marriage ceremony of one Sanjay Pandita (Nunar Ganderbal) at present Bantalab Jammu. It was performed in contrary to the above as the Bharat reached the venue, viz, Samaj Sudhar Trust Janj Ghar Durga Naga at 8.15 A.M to perform the Lagan just in time. The Groom was accompanied with requisite number of Bharaties which took his in-laws by surprise and delight, who too were prepared for the reception. The punctuality was praised by one and all present on the occasion and they took an oath to perform their related marriages with such punctuality. The Groom was also praised for insisting dowryless marriage. It all happened due to the vital role played by the father of the Groom and the Groom himself.

This marriage should be an eye opener for the whole community and the younger generation in particular who have forgotten the religious value of timely and dowryless marriages.
