SRINAGAR, Mar 15: National
Conference (NC) governments
decision to restructure the State
Subordinate Services Recruitment Board
(SSSRB) with the expulsion of all the 18
members in 1998 was widely appreciated in
the State. Quite a large number of the
members, who were retired Government
officials with nothing at stake, had
crossed limits of corrupt practices. When
the Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah
himself was convinced that some SSRB

Annan calls for early
resumption of stalled

dialogue

DELHI, Mar 15: UN Secretary General
Kofi Annan today pushed for an early
resumption of the stalled dialogue
between India and Pakistan saying it is
time to heal the wounds of and offered
his "good offices" if the two
countries wished to do so under UN
auspices. "This is the right time
for India and Pakistan to resume the
dialogue. Pakistans leader General
Pervez Musharraf assured me in Islamabad
that he is ready to do so at any
time....I stand ready to support the
dialogue in any way that I can,"
Annan told reporters at Delhi Airport
soon after his arrival on a three-day

JAMMU, Mar 15: Police
today busted a racket engaged in selling
fictitious diplomas and marks-sheets of
J&K State Board of School Education
for Matriculation and Higher Secondary
Part-II classes. Three racketeers
including their kingpin have been
arrested by police while a hunt was on to
nab their associates....more
