Traffic scenario in Jammu

Sir,

Much has already been said and written about traffic problem in Jammu city. It seems there is no solution of this traffic problem.

The Traffic department has perhaps surrendered before the traffic monster. There is no point in retaining this Department The higher authorities of the Deptt should request the Government to transfer their services to other sections. There is no doubt that traffic department has miserably failed in discharging its duties. Prolonged traffic jams have become a norm. These jams last for more than 30 minutes. Moreover, drivers flout traffic regulation, with nobody available to take them to task.

Destroying Buddhist statues

Sir,

I would like to express my views on the on going destruction of the historic, peerless Statues of Buddha in Afghanistan. I feel that by destroying those priceless monuments and Sculptures the Taliban can in no way serve their own religion or affect the Buddhist faith. This is an act of vandalims and shows the narrow mindness of the destroyers of those works of art, which are a common heritage of mankind.

Religious and Cultural Sculptures like the ones that the Taliban is bent upon raising to the ground reflect the history, legend, myth, faith and culture of a society Ultimately these artifacts become the Pride of the whole humankind. Destruction of these ancient masterpieces in the name of Jihad is a Sin and a crime against humanity. Actions like these have to be stopped otherwise they will encourage the destroyers of culture. These unthinging and barbarous persons are the enemies of humanity and a great threat to world, peace and brotherhood.

These fanatics are the bane of society. Islam nowhere ask the faithful to destroy beautiful precious antiques of the World for the sake of Allah. Nowhere is it written in the Holy Quran that fine historic Sculptures should be destroyed. The decision like these are result of ignorance, illiteracy and fanaticism. It is the responsibility of all civilized human beings through out the World to raise against such brutal acts and spare no pains in order to save these monuments from being reduced to dust. Let the whole world impose sanctions against the Taliban so that they are taught the value of art and cultural heritage. If world doesn't stop them from such uncivilized acts we will suffer in future. We have to contribute to the world culture. The gun culture that the world is passing through these days is a temporary affair. Such things do not succeed. The world we are living in has been created by those who have worked for its betterment.

Destroyers have always brought a bad name. Therefore, the people who call these objects of culture 'Stones' show how ignorance can be devastating, Let us stop them from doing so before it is late.
