Kashmir -A complex issue Sir, Both India and Pakistan have been trying to retain Kashmir, somehow. Unless it is solved, aspirations of people fulfilled, Kashmir will remain a headache. People through religion have woven a web around themselves and they find it difficult to extricate themselves from its clutches. Again their are a plethora of parties each holding divergent views and shades difficult to contain them at reasonable point. Indian Govt. should study the case in its wider perspective and find out a solution viable both for India and Pakistan. So for India has failed to win the confidence of the people of Kashmir. Right from 1947 it has remained a disputed territory. It has remained in focus due to killings of innocents, molestation, gang-rapes generating heat of vengeance and ill-will. After sifting all the possibilities of peace treatments, it will remain conducive to come on negotiation with Pakistan to normalise the situation. Negotiation will not belittle the importance, It will be an attempt to search each others mind and may help if we throw off intransigence. The pitcher has developed cracks, it can neither retain water nor it is worth-preservation. Even if we treat it with mud or tarcoal plaster, it will still come out. The youth of Kashmir is disgruntled for he has never been heard or cared. People are not happy. Even microscopic community of K P's are feeling sour with the policy of Indian Govt. The slogan of peace-process, which is the talk of the day, is a positive and good step, provided, it is blended with sincerity and honesty of purpose. People should no more hear the rhetoric of Right of Self-Determination or irrevocable part of India. Positive approach is always a welcome step as goodness is apt to be un-combative and immobile. And, if the same is refused, it will bring the entire process to a grinding halt. I pray to all the parties, directly or indirectly involved, to save Kashmir and Kashmiriat and take pity----an expression of feeling which arrests the mind in the prevailing gruesome affair, grave and grim in human suffering with silent wistful urge to set wrong at naught. Kargil without electricity, water Sir, Today Kargil is famous not only in India but also in the world but unfortunately it lacks basic amenities, necessities for living. There is no proper supply of electricity for the last one year. The Iqbal Hydral project which had a limited capacity of two mega watt has also been abandoned due to the carelessness of the present Government. The public of Kargil is leading a miserable life with no electricity inspite of being an important part of India. After 53 years of independence, there is no proper supply of drinking water in Kargil. Lots of funds have been given to the concerned department for the proper supply of drinking water for the residents of Kargil but till now there is no sign of any development in this field. Former Prime Minister Deve Goda visited Kargil and had sanctioned a fund of Rs. 4 crore. The whole fund was embezzled and the situation got worse day by day. No body knows where the whole fund went and there is nobody to inquire about it. The public of Kargil demands an investigation of the whole matter. It has been the demand of Kargil people for the last few years to start air service in Kargil so as to join it from the rest of country through Air Service. As a result, Former Prime Minister N. Rao sanctioned Rs 45 crore for the construction of airport. Since the airport is ready to function but air service has not started as yet. Another big problem in Kargil is unemployment, as a result, many of the unemployed youth choose wrong path. Even if there is any vacancy, that is grabbed by the influential ones. That's how these rich people suppress the poor public. There are so many NGOs which are run by many a Government official, who are already in good financial position. Our demand is to strip giving funds to these NGOs and give a chance to educated but unemployed youths of Kargil. Now-a-days taking bribe has become a common practice in Kargil. Does the Government has any solution to this problem. I request the youth of Kargil to forget the internal dispute and unitedly fight against the external conspiracies to take our community on the path of progress. Yours etc.... |
