A matter of identity

Sir,

It is for the last 53 years that Jammu is groaning under the political, social and cultural shackles of powers that be of the valley of Kashmir since the time Late Sh. Jawahar Lal got himself nominated as the Ist PM of free India. Leaving all other aspects even a very insignificant activity in the information and broadcasting wing's working when ever one switches on the transistor or radio of local Jammu Radio Station one hears the announcement of 'Yeh Radio Kashmir Jammu Hai. (i.e this is Radio Kashmir Jammu) although such announcement is irrelevant but it reminds us of the cultural servitude of Jammuites to the masters that be which began with the blessings of Late Jawahar Lal Nehru. Leaving aside, all else, at least, the announcement of the of t-repeated bondage on wireless sets can and should be removed and allow Jammuites to recollect their identity without any material gain to them.

Best solution-I

Sir,

Even Vajpayee has admitted that the ceasefire has failed in curbing terrorism. Yet the ceasefire has been extended, and equally promptly rejected by Pakistan and its Islamic terrorists. Since it is they who have been doing the killing, the ceasefire obviously will fail again.

So what happens after this extension ends? Another extension? If India continues on this path, our people will keep dying and the enemy will keep getting stronger. Eventually we will lose Kashmir. But will the enemy stop there? Obviously not. They will then aim for another State.

So how long will Indians try to escape the fight? If India delays for too long, we will have to totally surrender, or use extreme measures. Both alternatives are bad. The best solution is to talk with Indian Kashmiris, but actively seek and kill the Pakistani Islamic terrorists. It will be strategically cheaper to send in our killer squads in Pakistan to do the job. But if our army is forced to sit on its butt, its morale will go bust and the army will go berserk.

Best solution-II

Sir,

Pakistan is weaker than India military, economically and geographically. Normally in any confrontation, the weaker side tends to lose. But Pakistan continually infiltrates terrorists inside India, rufuses to stop terrorism, and maintains offensive pressure on India. How can this wonder happen" Because India does not fight back!

Leaders like Vajpayee have many excuses-foreign pressure, impressing the international community, personal vanity. They humiliate India by restricting our own military! Instead of being in a strong winning position, they bring India to disaster. India can make Pakistan bleed using its own tactics, and India must do so.

Ceasefire was intended to divide the enemy, but it has divided us.

Review
Rehbar-e-Taleem scheme

Sir,

We, the educated unemployed youth have been shocked by the manner, teachers' posts were withdrawn from the SSSRB by the Chief Minister and instead, implemented the biased Rehbar-e-Taleem Scheme. And appointed untrained and undergraduate candidates as teachers.

It may be mentioned that the educational set up in Jammu Kashmir is very defective because there is no autonomous body for the recruitment of teachers. To improve the quality of education in the schools, the need of the hour is to recruit highly qualified and trained teachers. As professor Humayan Kabir has stated, "without good teachers, even the best system is bound to fail, with good teachers even the defects of a system can be largely overcome."

Moreover, the scheme has been framed for those who have access to the concerned Deputy Commissioner, Chief Education Officer and MLA of that region. The drawback with the scheme is that it is meant for remote areas. Then a question arise-what will happen to those belonging to urban areas are highly qualified. It seems that while framing this scheme, the Government has not kept this point in view.

We the unemployed and trained graduates appeal to the Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah to review the scheme and appoint the deserving youth in the education sector.
