SRINAGAR, Dec 14: Residents of several villages in Budgam say that, before becoming a militant, he was an illiterate barber. During his tryst with terrorism, he seemed to be striving for money, and, of course, Azadi. When he switched over to the security forces, he parted with Azadi but not money. Within six months, he lifted over 50 people with BSF’s help, with one or the other allegation. As none of them proved to be a militant during the course of severe physical torture, all of them had to be released. His rates for releasing such "militants" ranged between Rs 5,000 and 20,000.........more
