The Offshore Areas Minerals (Development and Regulation) Bill, 2001 as introduced and pending in Lok Sabha has been referred to the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry for examination and report thereon. The Bill proposes to enable streamlining of mineral exploration and development in the offshore areas and ensure systematic and scientific exploration of mineral reserves (except petroleum, natural gas and hydro carbon resources) for attracting private investment in the mineral sector.

2. The Committee under the Chairmanship of Shri Ramdas Agarwal, MP has decided to invite suggestions/views from individuals/institutions/organisations/experts having knowledge, experience and interest in the subject.

3. Individuals/institutions/organisations/experts may obtain, on requisition, copies of the Bill from and send their suggestions/view in the form of memoranda to Shri Rakesh Naithani Committee Officer, Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry Cabin-B, Basement, Committee Complex, (Rajya Sabha), Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi (Tel: 3034032 (O)) so as to reach him on or before 14th December, 2001.
