Kashmir issue

Sir,

It is no use to rue over the breakdown of much hyped Summit between Gen. Musharraf and Atal Jee. This was almost expected but not to the extent as none amongst (8) points materialised. The breakdown has shrouded all gloom amongst masses unleashing different shades of speculations.

Frankly speaking and without any prejudice against anything, generals are generally forthright, above politics and diplomacy. This cannot be gainsaid. Where Musharraf had only one agenda there Indian Govt had (8) points. The hub and centre revolved round the contentious issue.

Well, if Kashmir is not a contentious issue then what is the issue remaining a stumbling block that has clogged the process of rapprochement and strained the relations. Diversity and twisting of facts pointing towards liberation of POK is a political strategy to hoodwink the masses. This buck passing game will not do. Alas! we refuse things because do not have the courage to accept the truth. And whom to blame for it; things are very much clear. Where sincerity lapses, hypocracy pre-dominates, there is always confusion chaos and confrontation. Politics and diplomacy has ruined our country as it hides reality and smears accountability and transparency.

50 years of independence have run out and we are not still close to justice and economic security. With each passing year, the hope is waning. Both heads of government are under acute strain and stress. Naturally, they speak the language that suits to their survival. It is why promises and possibilities have come to nothing. The worse sufferers are masses, I mean Kashmiris who are the first casualty in the barking of shells. How long the sword of Damocles will remain hanging on their head, God alone knows.

The game of politics has made Kashmir a seething cauldrom of political conspiracy spoiling the existence of a Kashmiri. A chunk of Kashmiri Pandits were bounded out from their hearths and homes and were forced to seek refuge in the infernal pockets of the country.

In the backdrop of it, the Central Govt. will chalk out an agenda make it transparent before initiating any further dialogue to avoid ambiguity to normalise the situation.

Besides, internal crisis are more dangerous than external incursion. Here, we should talk to the people of Kashmir, see their difficulty as internal assessment is more necessary to gauge the facts from maze of controversy if we really mean to find out a viable solution of the problem.

Role model

Sir,

This is in reference to the recent shooting incident at Railway station Jammu.

Where as the brave armyman Lance Naik Suresh Kumar deserves all Kudos and appreciation for his dare devil act which saved many innocent lives at the railway station. However our so called commandos deployed at the station proved themselves to be nothing more then Black Rats running for cover when they should have been in the forefront of the rescue act.

People like Suresh Kumar should be appreciated. Further they should be encouraged and projected as role models for our Black Rats.

Transfer of old people

Sir,

After the age of 52 years, according to natural process usually there occurs physical weakness in human beings as such there should be no harassment to Govt employees in respect of their transfer from one corner to other corner (particularly posting in Kargil, Leh Distt even on promotions).

The Govt employee after 50 years of age should not be transferred from one place to other place and be posted at places which are not very far from their residence till retirement on humanitarian grounds. The Govt may keep in consideration the age factor while making transfers of Govt employee from one place to other place.

Act of dishonesty

Sir,

I was surprised to find the article Tale of Story teller- P N Pardesi as written by myself (M N Kak), whereas it is a translated version of Dr Brij Premi's article from the book ''Kashmir Key Mazameen''- The Urdu article has been translated by me. The name of Dr Brij Premi has not been recorded. In the manuscript submitted, the name of Dr Brij Premi has been written.

I know that it happens to be an act of dishonesty. The comments of one Mr Manzoor Deve from Gandhi Nagar (Excelsior dated 9.8.2001) are correct in face of what has happened.
