State libraries in a shambles

Sir,

Library system could not be included in the list of priorities of modern education system. Unluckily, due to lack of assessment by the intelligentsia of the society or some sections of the intellectuals deliberately tried to create hurdles in giving due status to this profession.

J&K State never appointed any technical qualified bureaucrat, who could assess, endures and plead the cause of this down trodden profession, so that the technical problems of this profession could be solved on the basis of realistic approach for the welfare of modern education system.

At present, vacant posts in Libraries have not been filled up with the duly qualified staff, which are lying vacant for the last more than five years and libraries are functioning under the supervision of In-charge chief Librarians. Most of the Libraries are under staffed which is also one of the main factors of mismanagement.

Besides, paucity of funds, due promotion of existing staff, removal of anomalies, creation of the posts of classifiers-cum-cataloguers and of other cadres, planned library buildings, library manual, and set up of technical hierarchy are the main needs of the time to give a face-lift to this neglected system.

In short, to eliminate the above bottle-necks, a commission on library system should be set up which 'would comprise technical qualified professionals to formulate a plan for the improvement of present system in schools and colleges.

Sir,

We feel sorry for the unfortunate loss of precious lives of Indian soldiers by ruthless psychopath Bangladesh army. Lesson of the story should be crystal clear to all Indian's especially self-cantered political parties. All illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators should be kicked out from N.Delhi, Calcutta, Mumbai etc. We must keep our country clean from people staying illegally in our country. Politicians must ignore vote banks. Any politician supporting these people should be considered anti national. We must learn from Nepal, the way they reacted on the issue of Hritik Roshan which remotely involved their national pride.

Indian Army must give the befitting reply & pay back the Bangladeshi army in the same coin. Under present situation silence will be indicative of cowardice Strong & immediate action is must.

We pray for peace for departed souls. We hope wisdom prevails on our selfish political parties & at least they unite in this hour of crises.

Yours etc..

Sir,

It is a measure of the utter incompetence and sleeplessness of the Vajpayee government, that the Bangladeshi rifles can coolly occupy Indian territory and two days later, we are still debating whether or not the incursion even occurred !!

Not long ago, George Fernandes and the army spokespersons were at loggerheads about a Kargil peak being still under Pakistani occupation. Obviously, this government either does not know or does not care or both about the country's borders and how to defend it.

Such an act on part of the Bangladeshi rifles should have invited a swift and extremely damaging punitive strike by the combined might of the Indian forces to send an unmistakable message that Indian territory is not up for sale.

Sir,

What I was on the frontages of a national daily yesterday has really made me think about what we Indians stand for. It was the most barbaric picture of my life. A brave Indian soldier who sacrificed his life for our motherland was being taken like a animal with his hands and legs tied to a bamboo stick. I don't believe in the philosophy of softstate and tolerance being projected by our leaders. Our nation has lost 15 brave soldiers and our leaders try to give an impression that everything is normal. Nobody on this earth has a right to step on an inch of our motherland and if anybody does he should be taught a tough lesson. I and millions of Indians like me want to teach that small piece of land called Bangladesh a lesson for dishonouring the bodies of our solders. There is no use of having fighter planes and weapons. If they are just be used for Republic Day Prade. Today it is Bangladesh and I won't be surprised if tomorrow Bhutan attacks us.

Why France lost in the second world war was because its leaders behaved in the same manner as Indian Government is behaving today.

Statehood -A legitimate demand

Sir,

This is in reference to a letter of Salim Aatish of Rajouri published in your esteemed newspaper dated 26th March 2001. Had he visualized the factual position and reasons of Kashmir problem, he must not have queried which is briefly repeated here:

Kashmir problem has been created and complicated by Kashmir region people. The Jammu and Ladakh region have no problem with Indian national republic. They know their future is safe and prosperous with the motherland, a secular nation, India.

The State Govt. is dominated by Kashmiri Muslims which is partner of NDA government at the centre, There grievances can be redressed. Their demand of de-accession from the national republic amounts to anti-national status. Whereas state -hood demand of Jammu region is well within country and Indian constitution.

The entire Jammu region is being neglected by the state government.

The Muslims majority districts of Jammu region are also among the suffering victims.

The people of Jammu and Ladakh regions have categorically opposed the proposal of Jammu region's division of religious lines. The people of these regions are demanding statehood on linguistical, cultural, geographical and secular political basis. The Muslim of Jammu region have no linguistic, or cultural similarity with Kashmiris.

Presently, denying state-hood to Jammu region by some political parties is simply to soothe and please the Kashmiri region leaders. Today or tomorrow this demanded shall be acceded to. Creation of Punjab, Haryana, Chhatisgarh and Uttar-Ananchal was also denied earlier but later exceeded to by the Government.

The State hood to Jammu region is demanded within the national boundaries and Indian constitution. The nationalistic Jammu region people are agitating for State-hood which is a legitimate demand.

We all must think like Indians in Ist place and then think for region, religion and caste.
