Gupta demands funds for TAC

Excelsior Correspondent

UDHAMPUR, Sept 18: Mr Shiv Charan Gupta, leader of BJP Legislature Party, has expressed deep anguish on the deteriorating sanitary conditions in Udhampur Town and apprehended that if present state of affairs continued, there was every likelihood of spread of epidemics, which may prove detrimental to the health of the inhabitants of town.

In a statement Mr Gupta alleged that the present NC Government has become totally oblivious towards its duties in respect of providing civic amenities to the people as till date no required funds have been allotted to Town Area Committee Udhampur for maintaining sanitation and execution of various civic works.

Mr Gupta said due to lack of funds all civic works have been halted and all lanes and drains continue to remain in dilapidated condition with water logged here and there from the choked drains and foul smell emanating out of the stagnated water pollutes the atmosphere apart from becoming a place for breeding of mosquitoes.

The BJP leader said the financial condition of the TAC was so bad that it did not have funds for making payment of account of wages to sweepers engaged for sanitation purposes as a result of which the sweepers usually shirk work and the people left to suffer for no fault of theirs. He added that there was no proper lighting system available in the district headquarters due to lack of funds.

Mr Gupta demanded that required funds be allotted to TAC Udhampur so that proper sanitation of the town could be restored and lighting system improved.
