Mediation must Sir, After taking into account the ground realities, presenting the grim and dismal look with thin chances of settlement of the core issue, there appears no other way except to search for the third party mediation to solve the long outstanding vexed problem of Kashmir. Bilateral or Tri-lateral without mediation will be a wasteful exercise. More than 50 years have elapsed and no politition or leader has been able to cure the ailment which has assumed a frightening dimension. In the back-drop of it, the third party mediation acceptable to both the parties, appears to be the only pragmatic solution to solve the chronic contentious issue. Otherwise, war is the only measure to settle it finally. And when, it (War) enters in a country its horrors can not be side-tracked. Out of the two, it will be in the right direction to choose the lesser evil to defuse uncertainty and dilemma. Yours etc.... |
Favouritism in selections Sir, The selection list of recently appointed contractual lecturers of commence has been kept in abeyance for reasons best known to the concerned authorities. The selected candidates were sent written appointment orders. Accordingly they submitted their joining reports and started taking classes But just after seven days, much to their disbelief, they were asked to discontinue their services without assigning any reason. But the wife of an influential bureaucrat who was also one of the contractual lecturers and had not been selected has been retained for the reasons best known to the authorities. This clearly shows that the said lady has been favoured which is against the norms and rules. Moreover, she is a non-State subject. This peaks of the influence and other considerations that work while making selections. It is high time that the concerned authorities look into the matter. Yours etc... |

Return of KPs Sir, Hizbul Mujahideen's bullying not to allow bifurcation of Kashmir is an overarching posture, violating personal space. It is based on the preposterous premise that they are the sole arbiters of the destiny of all Kashmiris. The overground ideologue string-pullers of Hizb-no, not Pakistan- have so far shied away from contesting an election and proving their popularity among the Kashmir masses. In what capacity is then Hizb talking about others or for others? Kashmiris, in general, and Kashmiri Pandits in particular, are capable of thinking for themselves and about the political despensation that suits them. Pandits have been articulating this not only in India but across the globe. That they were against the very idea of whatever Hizb and their mercurial masters stood for became the first and foremost reason to quit Kashmir. They are not prepared to let any individual, group or Government decide anything about their return to the Valley over their heads. Kashmir not only belongs to Kashmiri Pandits, it is the very origin of their entire history, customs, academmia and continuity. This attachment cannot be viewed just to showcase to the world that all is well with secularism in Kashmir. The presence in Kashmir of Pandits now and a few vested elements talking about their imminent return now is at best symbolic tokenism, a mere-window-dressing. Kashmiri Pandits need no invitation to return to the Vally nor any permission. Return they shall at their terms. Clearly, it is now or never for them. Hizb must shun overbearing dictations to KP's. We KPs are answerable to our future generation who will ask us about our responses in the wake of the catastrophe of internal displacement, Hizb or no Hizb. We have reasons to believe that despite our minor differences within our community, our leadership is capable of taking wise steps to ensure our collective well being. We shall return to ''our'' Kashmir. The urge of majority of Pandits in this regard is unstoppable now. Yours etc... |
