Trifurcation of J&K State

Sir,

Please refer News item ''Cong. hails Advani's statement on trifurcation'' page 5 dated October, 24, 2000. The spokesman of PCC Mr Amrit Malhotra has expressed his views that the trifurcation is on communal basis supplemented by the RSS and the BJP. He is also said to be wondered that the demand was made without the connivance of the Union Home Ministry.

But the fact is that the political parties are bent upon to dominate each other at the cost of general public. The parties do'nt vote public view and issue statement on their own. Firstly, the demand of public arises out from the core of their heart and is not connived with the home ministry or any political party. Secondly, the demand of trifurcation of J&K State has come out as a result of 52 years domination from the valley, a minor region over other two major regions of the state.

The trifurcation of the State as demanded by the various organisations, political parties and particularly the public of both the regions of Jammu and Ladakh is not on the communal basis but to remove domination of one region over the other.

The demand of trifurcation into smaller states is justified because the three regions of the state have :-

(i) Different cultures, (ii) Different languages, (iii) Different customs and festivals, (iv) Different climatic condition, (v) Different geographical condition, (vi) Different capitals (always on wheels).

The policy made for one region cannot be implemented in other region and the way of working development cannot be universal. The schemes formulated for the three regions of the state can be a boon for one region and curse for the other region, due to the above said six reasons. The interpretation of trifurcation of State on communal basis is wrong. Here the words ''Communal basis'' used by some organisations, individuals, political parties is shocking as our country is a secular one having freedom of practising all the religious faiths. And trifurcation of the State into smaller ones would not jeopardise the freedom of relgion as the Jammu State as proposed by the public would have highest percentage of Muslims than any other State of our country excepting Kashmir valley as proposed State.

My suggestion to all political parties is to sink their political differences for the general cause of the people.

Pay Compensation

Sir,

We the aggrieved Zamindars of village Dool, Kawar, Padyarna Galbar and Paddar of Tehsil Kishtwar District Doda would like to draw the sympathetic consideration of the Minister for Revenue J&K Government regarding the non-disbursement of compensation for land and strucures acquired by the BECON (GREF) for the construction, widening of Kishtwar Paddar Sansari road, during the year 1982-83. Since then the owners are running from pillar to post to get the compensation. But due to adamant attitude, the farmers are in a sorry state of affairs and are suffering, having no fault of theirs. Now, the Zamindars hope that the Minister and all the concerned authorities shall take the matter with the aforesaid Department and seek a solution to our miseries.

Need for such articles

Sir,

Hats off to your Sunday Magazine for bringing out articles on traffic congestion and landscaping by Mr Gopal Sharma and Mr Kakroo respectively. These fine gentlemen have hit the hammer on the nail. It really is the crying need of the hour to ease and streamline traffic congestion and also to spread more greenery and clean patches throughout Jammu city.

I strongly urge your newspaper to bring out similar views more often by like minded and concerned citizens.

Trouble some Traffic Jams

Sir,

I would like to draw the kind attention of Traffic Police authorities towards the frequent traffic Jams on either side of the railway under-bridge near Narwal Mandi. The Major causes of such traffic jams include wrong parking stoppage of Metadors of Chhanni-Himmat and Narwal routes. These metador operators often stop their vehicles on either side of the aforesaid bridge from where the link roads lead to west Railway colony. Surprisingly, there are a good number of traffic police personnel posted at Ambedkar Chowk but they don't bother to regulate the traffic at the said crucial locality. I personally feel that traffic jams near the said railway under-bridge cause lot of inconvenience to general public (road users) especially office goers as such appealed to the concerned aurthorities to take early action in the said matter in the interest of the general public of this area.

Non functioning Sewerage System

Sir,

The inhabitants of Talab Tillo, especially near and Opp. State Bank of India Colony Bharat Nagar, are facing lot of difficulties due to non-functioning of Nallah constructed by UEED a few years back nearby our houses on the main road.

In absence of proper outlet system, the said Nallah remains full of garbage, filth. After it rains for just 10-15 minutes, the dirty water from Nallah finds its way into our houses. Our lane gets flooded and it becomes very difficult to move out of our houses. We get virtually, house arrested for several hours.

The dirty water emits bad smell and unhygienic conditions start prevailing. The flooded water in our lane also poses a threat to the safety of our houses.

It is therefore, requested to the concerned authorities to take the matter into consideration and redress our grievances.

Yours etc....
