Unfilled vacancies withdrawn from SSSRB
Village Committees to make recruitment of teachers
No jobs but Rs 5 Lakh for militancy victims

SRINAGAR, Oct 11: In an unprecedented declaration, Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that all the unfilled vacancies of teachers in the State were being withdrawn from the autonomous State Subordinate Services Recruitment Board (SSSRB) and the recruitments would now be made by Village Level Committees (VLCs) on the pattern of Rehbar-e-Taleem scheme. He also announced that, now on, the families of anybody killed in militancy-related incidents or cross-border shelling would get ex gratia of Rs 5 Lakh in cash and the system of providing jobs under SRO-43 had been abolished.........more

Two CRPF personnel and eleven civilian sustained injuries in the blast. -Excelsior/JavedSRINAGAR, Oct 12: While as two civilians and six militants have got killed in different militancy-related incidents across Kashmir valley since last evening, two CRPF personnel and eleven civilians were left wounded in militants’ grenade attack near SBI complex, on Residency Road, here this afternoon. Official sources told EXCELSIOR that on the basis of a specific information, troops of Rashtriya Rifles 35th Bn launched a search operation at Gurveth village, in Raithan area of upper Budgam late last night. Troops destroyed the house of one Ghulam Hassan and eliminated two unidentified militants in the gun-battle. Two AK-56 rifles as also a quantity of assorted ammunition was claimed to have been recovered from the site of encounter........more
