Start M.Sc Sericulture Sir, It is to be mentioned here that Sericulture was introduced as an elective subject for the medical stream in the two colleges of the Jammu University i.e. G.D.C (Boys) Udhampur and GDC Poonch w.e.f. session 1996-97. The subject was introduced as a course of study in order to train the students of the state in the sericulture field and to revive the sericulture industry in J&K as this industry is an income generating source for the state government. But since no decision has been taken to start M.Sc Sericulture in the Jammu University, the authorities are simply befooling the students opting for sericulture at degree level. They are playing with the future of these students. The students cannot do specialisation in the particular field, and if they want to do so, they have to opt for other universities outside the state where the expenses are very high. The students (most of which are from rural areas) cannot afford such high expenses. Moreover, sericulture has flourished rapidly in the past few years, and also J&K is known for its better quality of silk. Sericulture is also a part time job for rural people and can be a self-employment prospect for unemployed educated youth of the J&K state. Hence it will be a right step to start M.Sc Sericulture in the Jammu University. It will be beneficial for the State Government and the enthusiastic youth of the state who really want to do something and want to make a revolutionary change in the particular field. So, it is requested to the concerned authorities to take a decision as early as possible and to start M.Sc Sericulture so that the students may not find any difficulty after completing their graduation. I, on behalf of all the concerned students, strongly urge the authorities to listen to the plight of the students. Yours etc.... |
India's dismal performance-I Sir, Indians yet again failed to win a Gold medal. But this time, they were very close to win few more medals like in Hockey, Boxing athletics etc. Yet we could not add to, just one bronze thanks to the heroics of Karnam Malleswari that saved India from the humiliation of being the second most populous country after China. The answer to the Question haunting the every Indian is why we failed to win ? I think the answer which is well in the fitness of things is the mental strength. It is the mental toughness that Indians lacked. The performance of few athletes is a classic example, almost all of them failed to clear the first round with performances much below their standards. The unforgettable draw against Poland is another example where we had a do or die situation but our men failed to click when it mattered the most. I think, if there is more exposure to our players, then, we can prepare ourselves mentally for big events like olympics. Yours etc.... |
