Farooq calls on

by alleged delay in releasing
annual funds for the State, Jammu
and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq
Abdullah today called on Prime
Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and
requested him to ensure early
release of funds for development
of the State. "I discussed
the delay of funds in the State
which is posing great problems in
ensuring speedy development of
the State," Abdullah told
PTI here after having a 45-minute
long one-to-one meeting with

Mamata withdraws
resignation
CALCUTTA,
Oct 6: Mamata Banerjee
today climbed down and withdrew her
resignation as Railway Minister following
a "written assurance" from
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to
reconsider the recent hike in prices of
petroleum products, ending the
three-day-old uncertainty over
continuance of her Trinamool Congress in
the ruling NDA. Announcing the decision
to withdraw her resignation as also that
of Ajit Panja, Minister of State for
External Affairs, Banerjee told a crowded
press conference here that the Prime
Minister has given her a written
assurance to "relook and take
appropriate action" on his return
from Mumbai after his knee

Rule 3 of SRO 161 in future in letter and
