Army Chief for non-controversial arms’ purchase

Army Chief, Gen S PadmanabhanNEW DELHI, Oct 3: More mine protected vehicles-one estimate has put the number at 50-are on their way into India. Need for the imported MPVs (mine protected vehicles) has been occasioned by the unabated insurgency and organised attacks on Indian security personnel and their camps in Jammu and Kashmir and north-east region. Nearly 100 mine protected vehicles have already been imported and deployed in the Northern and Eastern Commands. According to sources in the Defence Ministry, action has been initiated to acquire more MPVs.......more
