Pak propaganda & Koushur Channel

Sir,

To counter the Pak Propaganda and flush out the misconception among the common masses of Kashmir created by Pseudo religious leaders from across the border, Koshur channel was launched in order to bring the State back to the rails of progress and prosperity.

But, hihterto this channel has failed to create any discernable impression to convince the masses and bring the astrayed youth in the main stream. No doubt, it needs lot of efforts to motivate particularly those misled in the name of religion but mismanagement and lack of proper planning of the higher ups of the channel is also conspicuous.

The impressive inaugural function of the channel at Srinagar prompted the people to expect extraordinary from this channel in the future. But quite contrary to their expectations, the channel hasn't been able to counter the diabolic conspiracy of Pak media to project the age old ethics of our country in bad taste at an international forum. Apart from this, the channel has failed to bring the truth to force through varieties of programmes in order to give a befitting reply to Pak media and aware the people of its wicked designs.

It seems that the proper strategy was not sorted out by the concerned Ministry and Doordarshan higher ups before launching this channel. Non-availability of funds for the purpose have severely affected the proper functioning of the channel. Hence the frequent repetitions of earlier produced programmes caused lot of resentment among the masses and damaged the reputation of the channel.

The rest got murkier due to favouritism and other mal-practices by some officials of Mandi House at an initial stage. Non-involvement of professional producers only added to the problem. The programmes were even allotted to those not acquainted with the basic situation of the State. Some quality programmes have either lost impact due to scarce quantity or have been over-shadowed by low quality programmes. To be precise, the favouritism displayed earlier only stimulated unfavourable reaction among the masses against the channel.

However, the attempts are being made to overcome the prevailing situation. The recent reshuffle in the Mandi House shows the keenness of the Government to improve the functioning of the channel.

Doordarshan has to be very consistent in producing the impressive programmes to convince the masses of the State. Any further inconsistent efforts will provide an ample chance to the media of our enemy country to rule over the hearts of the masses of State. So we should not show our any weakness to encounter the propaganda being sponsored by the Pakistani media.

The co-operation between concerned ministry and the DD officials is the utmost need of the hour.

Yours etc.

Sir,

The Indian Government has announced a unilateral ceasefire in Kashmir. It seemingly is a step in the positive direction toward resolving the long-standing Kashmir conflict. Or is it ?

Is this a goodwill gesture ? If so, is it well received and reciprocated by the militancy ? What will it do to restore peace in the Valley ? What happens after Ramadan is over ?

Is this a cleverly crafted strategy? It does not seem to be so since the militants have not rejected it outright but have started to escalate violence in the valley.

Is this due to external pressure from the U.S. ? Yes, the U.S. is keen to see a permanent solution to the Kashmir problem and has welcomed the Indian Government's ceasefire initiative. But if the militants do not like the Indian ceasefire, what will the U.S. do to help the Indian Government ?

Look at it every way, the ceasefire initiative seems fuzzy at best. Where reason and peaceful approaches have consistently failed to produce results, the only recourse is to actively engage the militants relentlessly. When will the Indian Government realize this ?

Ceasefire offer -II

Sir,

The recent declaration of ceasefire in Kashmir by the Government of India during the month of Ramadan and the subsequent killing of Hindu and Sikh civilians and soldiers by the militants is a grim reminder of the skewed policy of self restraint exercised by the Government of India.

Peace overtures at this point of time will only encourage the militants to further their cause. For us the situation is even worse in Kashmir as the battle there is already within our control.

Beginning from the Lahore bus journey and Kargil to the massacre of 100 non-Muslim civilians, its time now for the Indian policy makers to understand that peace cannot be achieved easily.
