Two civilians die, 10
injured Excelsior Correspondent POONCH, Nov 28: Troops of Poonch Brigade today eliminated five dreaded militants of Tehreek-ul-Jehad including its ‘commander-in-chief’ Ashraf Ahmed Beerwal in a fiercest gun-battle at village Dhanna near Sundri Dhok in Sabjian area of this district. Two civilians were also killed while 10 others including eight civilians and two army jawans were injured in the encounter.........more |

DELHI, Nov 28: The Government has taken a "calculated
risk" in declaring a unilateral ceasefire in Jammu
and Kashmir but at the same time terrorists will not be
allowed to take advantage of the Centre’s desire to
restore peace in the State, Home Minister L K Advani said
today.

Nov 28: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)
supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav was sent to
Beur jail today by the special CBI Judge
S K Pathak with the expiry of the bail
for three months granted to him by the
Patna High Court in connection with a
Disproportionate Assets (DA) case, an
offshoot of the multi-crore fodder scam.
The designated CBI Judge remanded Laloo
to judicial custody as there was no High
Court order on Yadav’s prayer for
extension of the provisional bail period,
which expired yesterday. Yadav, who
participated in the court’s
proceedings since the morning during
examination of witnesses in the ongoing
trial in the D A case was asked by the
special Judge to stay on till.......

Nov 28: A police constable
Prem Nath of Hiranagar police station was
today awarded double promotion by
outgoing Director General of Police (DGP)
Gurbachan Jagat at a press conference in
Police Lines. Prem Nath has been promoted
as Head Constable directly. A jubilant
but nervous Prem Nath couldn’t find
words to thank the DGP for this gesture
except for saluting the Police Chief. SSP
Kathua Manohar Singh told EXCELSIOR that
constable Prem Nath had single handedly
apprehended two Pakistani ....

today formally split with the launching
of a new political party ‘Jana
Shakti’ by Union Communication
Minister Ram Vilas Paswan who declared
that the new outfit would embrace people
irrespective of castes and religions.
Paswan, who along with three other JD (U)
MPs split the party in Parliament just
two days back, was declared the president
of the new party at a big rally of his
supporters from different states here at
Ramlila Maidan........
