Several Kashmiri groups endorse cease-fire offer

JKLF chairman and senior Hurriyat leader Yaseen MalikNEW DELHI, Nov 25: Several Kashmiri groups today endorsed Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s cease-fire offer in Jammu and Kashmir saying peace should be given a "sincere" chance. JKLF chairman and senior Hurriyat leader Yaseen Malik said Vajpayee’s offer of cease-fire was a "bold initiative" but "peace could not be created in vacuum" and what was needed was "sincere" efforts from New Delhi. He was participating in a two-day symposium "next steps in J&K: Give peace another chance" organised as a part of Track II diplomacy between India and Pakistan.................more

Senior Hurriyat leader Abdul Ghani LoneISLAMABAD, Nov 25: Senior Hurriyat leader Abdul Ghani Lone today met Pakistani military ruler Gen Pervez Musharraf here and discussed the Kashmir issue. Musharraf and Lone were together for one-and-a-half hours, said Sher Dil, Pakistan-based leader of Lone’s People’s Conference adding the Hurriyat leader was "satisfied" with the meeting. Syed Yousaf Nasim, former convener of the Pakistan Chapter of Hurriyat Conference, quoted Lone as saying that Musharraf was sincere and committed to finding a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue................more
