My judicial reforms mission aborted, laments Jethmalani

Mr Ram JethmalaniPUNE, July 23: Mr Ram Jethmalani today regretted that his stepping down as Union Law Minister has left unfulfilled his mission to reform the country’s legal system within two years — a vow he had taken after being inducted last year into the Vajpayee Cabinet. Failed businessman George Speight is pushing military-appointed President Ratu Josefa Iloilo to install a civilian Government stacked with rebel supporters. Watch out for eves droppers on internet, warn experts

NEW DELHI, July 23: The E-mail revolution in the internet era has increased the risk of eves dropping making the experts opine that a law should be enacted to curb intrusion into one’s right to privacy especially as the new Information and Technology Act is silent on this aspect. The right to privacy has been held by the Supreme Court as an integral part of fundamental right to life under article 21 of the constitution but sadly most of the internet users, as in the real world, are ignorant of the safeguards against violation of privacy, the experts say. According to them, with internet making forays into every nook and corner of India and on-line crime multiplying, there is an legislation vis-a-vis privacy, before the cyber menace really takes an alarming proportion. ........more
