Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Dec 27: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta while allaying the fears of the minorities from Valley, today declared that Kashmiri Pandits will be made a party whenever a dialogue is held to settle this vexed problem. Prof. Gupta who was speaking at a function organised here today to observe the 11 th death anniversary (Chetna Divas) of Pt. Prem Nath Bhat, said whenever any dialogue will be held on Kashmir the representatives of minorities from Valley will definitely be given participation in it. Prof Gupta was the chief guest in the function which was organised by Pt. Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust. It was presided over by Mr Abdul Ahad Vakil, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly. He said that the feelers are being sent that the minorities will not be included in these talks which are totally incorrect and baseless. The MoS for Civil Aviation said his Government will not rest till the minorities do not return with honour and dignity to their homes and hearths and the Pakistan is taught a lesson for its deeds. He said what can be the more insult than this that we have been deprived of the land of our ancestors and made refugees in our own country. Terming the allegations totally childish that his party will make compromise on Kashmir, he said BJP which has given many sacrifices for more integration of Kashmir with India can never stoop to such a level. He while hailing the peace formula initiated by Prime Minister, Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee said those thinking that Kashmir will be offered on hand to Pakistan are living in fools paradise. Reiterating that Kashmir is an integral part of India so why will we make compromise on our own territory he said no Indian Government whether it is of Mr Vajpayee or anybody else can take such a decision. He without naming the National Conference (NC) he however, maintained that autonomy is also not any solution to Kashmir issue. He said the NDA Government led by Mr Vajpayee is desirous for restoration of everlasting peace and normalcy in the Valley and it is with this desire that Mr Vajpayee announced the unilateral cease-fire. He said we want to hold dialogue and settle the problem but there are still certain constraints from Pakistan and it appears that she is not still ready to leave the path of violence. Paying rich tributes to Late Pt. Prem Nath Bhat, he congratulated the Trust for remembering the martyr. He said Pt. Prem Nath Bhat was my close colleague with whom I worked for a long time. He was a great visionary who worked tirelessly throughout his life for the betterment of mankind and also sacrificed his life for the same cause. Prof. Gupta said the nations only survive with the sacrifices of such great men like Pt. Prem Nath Bhat and Sarvanand Koul Premi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Vakil said the right determination will lead us to find a peaceful solution to Kashmir issue and not emotionality. He said the Kashmir issue can be solved by the people of the state itself and not by any third party. He said like thousands of Kashmiri Pandits the Muslims were also forced to flee from the Valley on gun point and among them I am also one who left his entire property for safety of his life. He while lambasting at Pakistan said it is she who violated the UNO resolutions by not withdrawing its forces from Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and other areas of the territory which are under the direct control of that country. Moreover, Pakistan has no right to talk of the resolution when it has gifted a portion of territory from J&K to China, he said adding, hence it is that country which has to fulfill the conditions of UNO resolution first. Without using trifurcation word Mr Vakil made a strong dig at the forces who are trying the division of the J&K on the name of regions, saying such a division will be detrimental to the cause of the people. He appealed the people from all three regions to be determined and fight the forces inimical to their cause collectively and unitedly. He said the migration has taken place before also but Kashmiriyat still survived because of its people. Those who took guns against humanity are criminals and will not be tolerated by the people. He also paid rich tributes to Mr Prem Nath Bhat saying despite ideological differences I regard him for his principles and service to society and nation. The Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr P L Handoo, who presented the vote of thanks said Pt. Prem Nath Bhat was one among us who died at a time when he should have not died. Mr Handoo while paying glorious tributes to late Prem Nath Bhat said he became the victim of ideological war. Certain people thinking in the terms that ideological war can be fought with bullet are witnessing the results of 12 year long turmoil, he said, adding the only way to fight the ideological war is dialogue and discussions across the table. The Law Minister also took strong exception of the Cultural Academy for not providing the Abhinav Theatre to hold the function . The function started with the "Vande Matram" presented by the students of Abhay Public School Muthi. They also presented a song on the selfless services of late leader. It was followed by garlanding of portrait of Pt. Prem Nath Bhat and lighting of traditional lamp. Two minutes silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the martyr. On the occasion the Saman Patras were presented posthumously to the next kin of three martyrs Messrs Veer Ji Pandita of Telwani Anantnag, Satish Bhandari of Kishtwar and Ramesh Kumar Raina of Raina Wari Srinagar by Prof Gupta. Delivering the Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Lecture, Prof T N Shalla spoke on the socio political ethos of Kashmiri Pandits. Besides him Mr Vaid Vaishno Dutt, MP also spoke on the occasion. |
