SRINAGAR, Dec 22: In a significant statement, pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen outfit’s chief commander in Kashmir Abdul Majid Dar today announced "fullest cooperation" to the Centre’s peace initiatives, even as some of his lieutenants made a dramatic appearance here declaring the outfit favoured peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue.........more


A large number of Kashmiri women were among the 100,000 devout Muslims who participated in the Jumat-ul-Vida (the last Friday of the month of Ramazan) afternoon prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid of Srinagar on Friday. SRINAGAR, Dec 22: Even as hundreds of thousands of Kashmiri Muslims today participated in the Jumat-ul-vida prayers, on occasion of the last Friday of Ramazan, without any politics, leaders of the separatist Hurriyat Conference addressed a 1,50,000-strong congregation at Jamia Masjid here and assured the audience that there would be no "sell-out" on Jammu & Kashmir. Senior Jamaat-e-Islami ideologue and prominant Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, stole the show with his eloquent speech as thousands in the crowd dominated...............more
